Martin Luther King Jr

With his electrifying "I Have a Dream" speech, Martin Luther King Jr. solidified his name in the consciousness of people everywhere as well as becoming an intregal part in the history of the United States.

Born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Ga, he is the most influential black person in North America. Whether speaking in front of 250,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial or writing a "Letter" on toilet paper from a jail in Birmingham, Alabama, he mesmerized all with his passion and his eloquence. The epitome of a civil rights leader, he walked and talked freedom, justice and equality for all those who could not or would not speak for themselves. From the Montgomery Bus Boycott through the March on Selma to Memphis to support striking sanitation workers, nobody aided the cause for civil rights more than Martin Luther King Jr. On April, 4, 1968, while still in Memphis, King was shot and killed.
