Potomac Paddle Club

Potomac Paddle Club is the first and only pontoon pedal boat or “cycleboat” in the nation’s capital! Voted, “The Best New Way to Drink on the Water,” by Washingtonian Magazine, this social, active adventure is the perfect way for friends, families, tourists, and colleagues to sip, cycle, and celebrate while enjoying the District’s most monumental attractions.

Passengers sit on comfortable bike seats that belly up to a 10-person mahogany bar as they pedal downriver at their own pace. Whether you’re a spinning sensation, a causal cyclist, or have never before ridden a bike, anyone can enjoy a cycleboat ride. The whole boat works together in tandem to turn the paddlewheel as our expert captain navigates the boat down the Potomac River (don’t worry though – we also have a motor on board to help out or even take over as needed so you don’t have to pedal). There are 10 cycle stations on board and the boat is equipped for up to 16 passengers, so not everyone has to pedal at once. The front of the boat has a furnished lounge area so some group members can lounge or stand while their comrades power the journey. Loungers and pedalers can switch places at any time!

The cycleboats have historically operated out of the Georgetown Waterfront, but we are now thrilled to announce the launch of our new Old Town Cruises out of the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront on select Fridays throughout the summer! This BYOB cruise is 2.5 hours long with a 30-minute midway stop at National Harbor, where passengers can use the restroom, grab a drink and/or food from a waterfront restaurant, and explore all that National Harbor has to offer before loading back up on the boat and returning to Old Town.
